*Taxidermy Categories include:     Lifesize:  Small (Coyote and smaller)
                                                                                         Large (Larger than a Coyote, but not including Coyote)

                                                  Birds (water); Birds (non-water)

                                                  Fish (skin mounts); Fish (Reproduction)

                                                  Reptiles (skin mounts); Reptile (Reproduction)

              Gameheads (all head mounts and rugs)

Immature specimens will compete in adult category.  Top scoring entry in each of Professional or Masters category will receive the “BEST IN THE WEST, BEST OF CATEGORY” designation.  This MUST BE a Blue Ribbon (1st Place).  Note: The “BEST IN THE WEST, BEST ALL-AROUND” Category will be given to the taxidermist who earns the most points in four of the five categories listed above and at least two blue ribbons out of the four entries.

ORIGINAL ART CATEGORY will include: a) casts and reproductions, b) manikins and clay armatures, c) bronzes, d) wood carvings, e) flat art.  These will receive one 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each area. 

NOVELTY CATEGORY will include any mounts or items not fitting into other categories.  These will receive one 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each area.

 

RIBBONS:  All taxidermy entries entered in the “masters/open/novice/youth” division and multiple ribbons will be awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention).

 Note: Any mount considered in poor taste by the competition panel will not be accepted for competition due to anti-hunting pressure and PETA, Etc.  Federally endangered and protected species can be entered only with proper permits attached.  (This includes TRANSPORTATION permits).  Popular vote will determine People’s Choice award.  NTA approved criteria will be used for judging. 

 All possible precautions will be taken to protect your mounts, but in the event of an accident due to fire, theft, malicious damage, flood, civil disturbance or any other event, the Arizona Taxidermy Artists Association and its members will not be held liable for damages.  If you feel it is necessary, please secure your own liability insurance.

 With my signature: I agree to leave all mounts entered in competition in place until the completion of the convention.  I certify that the above entries were mounted and finished by me without assistance. I have read and agree to all the rules and regulations governing this competition.  I understand that identification badges must be worn at all times to enter any WRTC Convention Function or security personnel will refuse entry.  I confirm that all of my competition entries (taxidermy and original art) were prepared by me.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If I am forced to cancel my plans to attend the convention I must request a refund in writing and the following will apply:

Postmarked before April 28, 2006 – Full refund of fees paid.       

Postmarked after April 28, 2006 up to and including May 30, 2006 – a 20% cancellation penalty is withheld.

After May 30 , 2006 – NO REFUNDS
