2009 ATAA Judges

 

Rick Carter: I was born November 26, 1956 and originally from South Carolina.  I have a bachelors degree in art education and business administration.  I have been involved in taxidermy since 1981 and operated a full-time studio for over seven years.  I have won NTA Taxidermist of the Year, People’s Choice (state/regional/national), First Place Masters, two bronze medals at World Championships, NTA Award of Excellence in large life-size mammals and game heads, and about every possible award at state competitions.  I am currently employed as a sculptor at WASCO.”
Mike Orthober: earned the NTA Distinguished Taxidermist Award in 1995, North American Champion Cold Water Fish in 1996, National Champion Cold Water Fish in 1992, the NTA Award of Excellence in 1993, two 2nd place in  Division of Excellence Gameheads and Fish, two 1st place Open Division for Gameheads and Life-size small mammals, Judge’s Choice Best of Show Fish in Wisconsin in 1995, Judge’s Choice Best of Show Fish, Iowa in 1992, two WASCO Awards, four Taxidermy Choice Best of Show in Wisconsin, and Best of Show at IGT in 1995.  Mike served two years as vice-president of the Wisconsin Taxidermy Association and was on the Competition Committee for six years.  He has been a member of the NTA Convention Assistant Floor Manager for six years.
Rick Carter will be judging Gameheads and Mammals. Mike Orthober will be judging Fish, Reptiles, and Birds.
