RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1.       All taxidermy mounts and art entries, no matter when they were completed or where they have been, are eligible for the competition with unlimited entries per category.

2.       Participants are encouraged to be current members of the NTA and their respective state taxidermy associates.

3.       All competition entries must have been mounted and finished by the participant.

4.       Any person interested in any aspect of taxidermy and wildlife art is eligible and all paid registrants will have access to all seminars, exhibits, and activities.

5.       Each fully registered participant will receive one additional participant pass for their spouse.  Children will be allowed in exhibit areas if accompanied by a parent with a participant pass.

6.       Spouse and dependents of paid participants can enter the competition for entry fees only (additional registration fee is waived).  Judges can enter the Original Art Categories for entry fees.

7.       HABITATS will not be judged unless you specify when mounts are registered.

8.       All protected species must include copies of all proper permits.  Without these permits they will not be allowed in the show.  Copies of these permits must be displayed with the mounts and an additional copy left at the registration table.

9.       Group entries containing more than one taxidermy mount will be judged as an overall average between the mounts UNLESS each mount is entered separately.  i.e. a pair of mallards.

10.  Enclosed cases must be fully accessible to Judges.  Covers must be removed by participants by 10:00 pm on Wednesday and replaced at 9:00 pm on Friday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11.  Competition entries and trade show exhibits are entered at the participant’s risk. Every precaution to secure the entries and exhibits will be taken, but the Embassy Suites and all convention personnel will not assume responsibility for loss or damage.  If you are concerned, secure your own insurance.

12.  This is an NTA sanctioned competition and all Judges will use the standard NTA Score Sheet with the score sheets available to the participants after judging.  All first place score sheets will be released Friday evening.

13.  Any complaints regarding judging should be brought to the attention of the one of the Board members, not the Judges.

14.  Judges decision should be final, but if a participant wishes to challenge their score, a rejudging will be done at an expense of $30.00 paid by the participant by 10:00 pm on Friday.  Rejudging will be done by an alternate judge between 8:00-10:00 am on Saturday and this decision will be final (even if lower).

15.  NTA points will be sent to the NTA points keeper only if the participant is a current NTA Member and their NTA Membership number is on file.

16.  Distasteful entries will not be allowed.

17.  Ribbons will be awarded on a point basis.

18.  After judging has been completed, business cards may be displayed next to each entry.

19.  No freeze dried entries (exceptions include turkey heads, antlers in velvet)

20.  Competitors may not cross divisions in the same category.  But he may (for example) enter fish in the Masters Division and birds in the Professional Division.

21.  If there is a name plate on the entry, omit (or cover) names during judging.

22.  You must register for the competition (even if you do not attend) in order to compete.

23.  Entries containing more than one taxidermy mount should be entered separately.  You can have both judged or have one and not the other, but not averaged (there will be no group categories).

24.  Extra credit can be earned in any category for mounts entered on the competitor’s original sculptured manikin, wrapped, or carved body.  Altered commercial forms do not qualify as originals sculpture, but will be considered for originality.

25.  Professional Category will be scored same as NTA Rules.  Masters Category will be scored as follows:  78-85 3rd place, 86-91 2nd place, 92-100 1st place.

26.  Habitat will be considered in the artistic composition of the overall mount, but will not have a separate scoresheet.

27.  DEPOSIT - AT least 50% of the registration fees are due by April 28, 2006 in order to avoid a late fee (postmarked).  The remainder is due at the door on June 8, 2006.  Registration after April 28, 2006 will be assessed a late fee of 20% additional.  This will also apply to all ‘at the door’ registration.

28.  REFUNDS – Full refunds will be allowed if notified before April 28, 2006 (postmarked or phone call).  After April 28, 2006 up to and including May 30, 2006, 20% will be retained to cover the processing fees.  If you cancel after May 30, 2006, NO REFUND will be issued.
